Bio-based TPE

Available immediately and worldwide: Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPEs) that have a variable proportion of renewable raw materials

The THERMOLAST® R range of more sustainable solutions by is expanded by a line of products from renewable raw material sources. Bio-based TPEs also have a lower product carbon footprint than established alternatives that are not based on renewable raw materials.

Dr. Tobias Brückner | Project leader | Advance Development

With our bio-based TPEs, we are closing a gap in our product portfolio and continue our path towards more sustainable TPEs. Our bio-based TPEs offer sustainable solutions whilst maintaining known performance and offering significant reductions of the product carbon footprint. We are looking forward to projects with these new materials, supporting the transition from fossil-based to more sustainable raw materials.

Advantages of Bio-based TPE

Biogenic Absorption

  • = Plants are taking up CO2 from the atmosphere
  • Positive effect on climate
  • Contributing to Circularity

PCF Reduction

  • The CO2 uptake can be accounted to the product carbon footprint
  • Reduction of up to 50%

Sustainability

  • Reducing finite raw material usage
  • Supporting the transition from fossil-based materials to renewable raw materials

Processability by Injection Molding

  • On standard equipment
  • Processing comparable to fossil-based TPE
  • Individual differences e.g. in flowability possible; lease refer to the processing guideline of the material
  • In-process recycling possible
